You see, it all began in the early 1920s in Vienna.
Wilhelm Reich was not just a young student of Freud.
But the father of psychoanalysis himself considered him “der beste Kopfe”.

His ideas were so brilliant that already at the age of 22 – well before finishing his studies – Freud introduced him to work as a psychoanalyst.
It was at that moment that Reich had a heretical revelation
What he had noticed in the subjects who followed psychoanalytic therapy, was the presence of chronic muscular contractures in different parts of the body.
Rigidity which, according to Reich, was not only the manifestation of a physical problem.
But a way to communicate information that could not be said in words.
It was as if his patients’ bodies contained a kind of “encrypted message” that psychoanalytic technique alone could not decipher.
As the word says, Freud’s school was based exclusively on the psyche.
And therefore on the emotions somehow already surfaced in people’s minds.
But according to Reich, that wasn’t all.
These emotions were only the tip of an iceberg of abysmal depths.
Imagine this …
A seven-year-old takes a seat in his chair to do his homework.
After a few minutes, the older brother bursts into the room raises his hand on the countertop, and sends the school books flying across the floor.
The little one is purple with rage, but as soon as he looks up he notices his brother’s cold eyes ready to beat the crap out of him.
To avoid the beating, then, bending down to pick up school supplies, he decides not to say anything and goes back to doing what he was doing.
A few hours pass and the little one has managed to put the incident behind him.
Does this mean that the anger has passed?
Not really.
But where did it go then?
According to the rebellious psychoanalyst, repressed emotions settle in the body's muscle tissue
Generating a “ neuromuscular armor ” made up of blocks, tensions and stiffness which in turn cause pain and physical symptoms.
You see, as the word itself says, emotions are energy in motion.
This energy travels at the speed of light within the nervous system. [4]

But above all on a muscular and even visceral level.
As evidence of this, a series of studies conducted over the past decades have shown how repressed emotions affect not only the mind, but also the body of people.[6]
This research, for example, has linked emotional repression to a decreased function of the immune system. [7]

According to this other study, however, negative emotional states are the cause of chronic joint pain, pain in the limbs, back pain, gastrointestinal problems, fatigue, sleep disturbances, changes in psychomotor activity and changes in appetite.[8]

This latest research from Harvard University has shown how people who continually repress their emotions are 30% more likely to die prematurely from all causes …
